Good news! I'm still sitting in a little warnet in bogor, along with Sister Hyde and Sister Simanungkalit. I'm so glad we all get to stay here! But, Saturday night we got a call from President during our Ward Mission Leader meeting and we were all freaking out because none of us wanted to transfer, and when he said we weren't moving, we literally were all so relieved! He told us that instead of someone leaving, we were getting another Sister! Sister Kaleopa is coming from Malang on Wednesday and she is MY companion! That means it's my first time leading an area that I've only been in for a month, which is kind of scary, but I know I'll be okay, Sister Kaleopa is polynesian but from Sydney Australia. She has been a missionary for about a year so her language is good enough for me and hopefully we can work really well together! The thing that stinks now is that there are 4 elders and 4 sisters in our district so we can't ever have p-day together. Either 4 sisters and 2 elders or vice versa. But it'll be okay and we will still see them a lot. The past couple of days have been moving stuff around in our house for another Sister to come. While I was moving a dresser I felt something crawl on my foot and it was a cockroach! I think they are my least favorite bug, and the other Sisters were making fun of me so much! Sister Hyde took a picture of me on top of the suitcase trying to avoid the cockroach. I would rather have a lizard in the room than a cockroach. Good thing my companions aren't scared cause we would be in real trouble. We have to go buy some new furniture and mattresses this week, so that will be kind of crazy. But it will be fun :)
This week the most exciting thing was Saturday! The Elders had a baptism! Brother ...... is their investigator who is literally the most prepared person I have ever met. We started out the day on Saturday with an activity for our investigators where we watched the Restoration. We probably had about 10 people come which was pretty good :) after that we invited all of them to come to the baptism. Almost all of them stayed which was really awesome. Brother....... bore his testimony and literally he taught pretty much all of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation like he's known it for years and it was so beautiful to hear his amazing testimony. I know it helped ....... and ....... see what baptism is like and I think both of their desire increased which was awesome! We will see what they say this week :) On Sunday we had an awesome experience and another testimony of fasting! It was almost the end of sacrament meeting of Bogor 2, and none of our investigators in that ward came, so we were kind of down, and then one of the members tells us there is someone outside who said someone from the church had been to her house trying to find her. Come to find out it was Sister ____! Now, the past like 3 weeks we have been trying to find her. The ward thought she had passed away from the record, but it turns out that was her mom that they were mistaking, and nobody had really tried to find her. So we went to her old address and she had already moved, but there was a family there who told us about where her new address was. So the next week we went and tried to find her, and that definitely includes talking to a lot of people! We just ask anybody if they know who the person is or know the address, and they literally ask anybody in sight if they know. Eventually usually someone knows and they leave what they are doing and show us where to go. It is so fun to see how willing to help they are! I love Indonesians! Eventually we found her house and her husband, but not her. We tried again a third time and she still wasn't there. So I was honestly about to give up, but literally it was a miracle that she showed up! We invited her in with us and it was just before the closing song. During the song, "God be with you till we meet again" (which translates a little differently in Indonesian so it's not only a funeral song) and she just broke down in tears. Literally the spirit entered her heart in all of 3 minutes and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. She was baptized when she was in high school. When she married a Muslim man, she stopped coming and has been inactive for over 20 years. The church has been rebuilt since, and it was still a branch when she was baptized. There were a few members in Bogor 2 that knew her, but she lives in Bogor 1 which was the morning meeting, so if she comes again next week I know a lot more people will remember her. The members are so awesome and they were literally so excited to see her again, whether they knew her there before. I know when we work hard, and continue to pray for these people, miracles do happen. We have thought about her almost every day for a month and have always included her in our prayers, so it is awesome to see how prayers of others really can bless lives. We so hope her and her family can come to church and hopefully her family can feel the same spirit she felt yesterday and just become so happy! It just has been an awesome experience to see the Lords hand in so many lives. I know that the Holy Ghost will testify of truth to anyone who really seeks it and acts in faith. Sister____ acted in faith when she decided to come to church for the first time in 20 years this week. ..... and ..... both felt the spirit more this week when they heeded the prompting to attend the baptism. I have so much love for these people and the potential they have to receive blessings from our Father in Heaven. Love you all! Thank you for ALL your emails this week and sorry if I can't reply to all of them!! Kasih, Sister Davis I got your package this week Mom! No charges :) and thanks for sending sour candy because the look on Sister Simanungkalit's face with sour stuff was as great as the look on my face with spicy stuff :)
