That means good morning. And it is a great morning in Indonesia :)
This week started out with Sister Kaleopa accidently leaving the cellphone in the angkot on monday, so this week has been phoneless, which definitely is not easy as a missionary let me tell you haha. We had to make sure our appointments were sure every morning when we used the other Sisters phone, and if an appointment fell through we couldn't make new ones because we didn't have phones. So lesson learned, be careful with the cellphone and don't lose it haha. We had to wait until Saturday night when our new simcard came from the mission office. Luckily we still have the same phone number. We had kind of a crazy experience on Wednesday. We decided to call every single one of our former investigators from the cellphone that the Elders used to have, and we got an appointment with one man who was really excited to meet with us. Turns out he just wanted us to help his daughter move to Australia, but that's okay. The way to his house was SO FAR! It took like an hour and a half riding an angkot to get there, and then another hour walking to find his house. I love going places that are just the epitome of Indonesia. There was this awesome view of a soccer field, random goats everywhere (super normal in Indonesia) and a cow that Sister Kaleopa wanted to get a picture with. So even though we didn't get a new investigator, we got a cool experience going there :) We also met with a referral from the APs named Elsa. She is 22 and WONDERFUL! She first came to english class a year ago and then would go with the Elders on P-day, but for some reason, I still don't know why, she was never taught as an investigator. She met with a friend from high school who she just barely found out was a member from our church, so she contacted one of the APs on Facebook to have us meet with her so she could learn about the church. She is so cute! She asked us to give her a Book of Mormon before we could even offer one to her. We kind of mentioned about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and she asked us if we believe in the trinity, and we said no, and then she told us about how her whole life she has been confused about the trinity, because her preachers have all told her it is just something that you have to find out for yourself is true. But she had no explanation. They have this recitation at her church where they say they have faith in God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. And it definitely sounded like it was 3 different people when she recited it to us. She already reads the Bible every day and she prays every night. I am SO EXCITED to see where her progress heads. I can see her being the one to ask us when she can get baptized before we even invite her. We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks. On Friday we had our plans fall through, so we decided to go again to a less active's house. We had been to her house but she hadn't been there for 3 times. So we got there and she was there! Which is amazing cause it's super far too, like everything in Bogor/Depok. She invited us in and was really excited to meet. She said she is often out of the city for school, and since her dad recently passed away, she just hasn't had a chance to go back. She still reads the Liahona and she was super comfortable praying. All she needed was a friend to tell her to come to church. She came with her older sister who is also inactive and her sister's new husband who isn't yet a member. She is 23, so she went to the young single adult class, which actually has like 10 people in it, and she seemed really comfortable. She also jumped right in and is going to sing in the choir for Stake Conference. And if she wants to sing she has to come every week to church, So I really think she can stay active and I'm really glad we could just be that little push she needs. Saturday Ibu Diana got baptized!! YAY! Even though I stopped teaching her half way through her learning experience, it was so awesome to see her! Her countenance had literally changed in the month since I haven't seen her. She was so excited and she was so ready. I love baptisms on the mission, no matter if it's someone you taught or other missionaries. The spirit is still the same and I love to see the fruits of missionary work here in Indonesia. Ibu Linda wasn't quite ready for this week, but hopefully the 15th she can get baptized, which is also her birthday which will be really fun and cute :) I'M SO EXCITED FOR CONFERENCE I CAN HARDLY STAND IT! I'm super excited to hear it this weekend and hopefully we can figure out a way to watch it in English :) Today for P-day we are going to the bishop's catfish farm to actually fish so that's gonna be an experience :) Be excited for pictures next week! Love you all! Have a great rest of your Sunday! Kasih, Sister Davis |
